Late autumn colour

Finished socks for Jasmine, Tajleen's little sister:

The Lucy cardigan I'm knitting for Frankie is finished - I just need to get more buttons. I had one left over from my first Lucy and should be able to get another card of them to finish up, since the little hearts match this sweater too.

Like for the first one, I used a single solid colour instead of the two called for in the pattern. I love how this multi-coloured sock yarn looks equally good with this orange (a gorgeous Spud and Chloe Fine) as it did with the pink I used last time.

Here's another gorgeous yarn:

This is SweetGeorgia CashLuxe Fine in the Autumn Flame colour way. I have another small shawl in mind for this one.

And finally, the brave mum on the patio that keeps flowering despite roaring winds and cold snaps:

Had to make another one...

The kitty fabric is from Fabric of Vision in Ashland, Oregon. The orange one (a perfect complement!) is from Fourth Corner Quilts in Bellingham.

These bags are very fun to turn out. They're cutting into my knitting time, but I have been making progress on a new project. It's another Lucy, by Holli Yeoh. This one is for Frankie. I have the back done and I'm half-way up the second front piece, and with today's perfect knitting weather I should be able make some progress.

I'm using the same striping yarn as for the first one, but I got some Spud and Chloƫ Fine for the top bits that coordinates perfectly, and gets away from the all-pink motif!

Two hours and three fat quarters...

Here is a knitting project bag I made this afternoon for my friend, Phyllis. She's knitting me a bodum cozy - it's an informal craft swap.

I found the pattern in this great blog post. It's a good pattern. I don't really enjoy the process of sewing, but I like to sew to create finished products I'm happy with, and this fit the bill.

Can't...stop...

I carved another stamp this afternoon. I think I do need to stop for a while, though - I need to knit things for people now so that I can use all my gift cards! I have lots of ideas for this last stamp, though.

Would anyone like a set of personalized gift cards for their hand knits or handmade gifts?

Birdies

The striped socks got finished in time, and were onto Tajleen's feet before I had a chance to take a picture of them. I'll have to ask for a picture of feet in socks. Her mother brought her over on Saturday afternoon to do some art while her sister was at her dance class. Tajleen chose to carve a stamp, so that's what we did.

We experimented with some drawings, then each transferred a drawing onto the stamping block material and carved it out. I decided to do a little bird, inspired by a stamp on a gift card I was just given. Then we played around with ink pads and embossing powders, and each stamped a sheet of business cards. That was how I made my gift cards last month.

Here is my sheet of birdies. I haven't decided what to print on these yet.

I recently bought some silver embossing powder from Dick Blick's and it's quite amazing. It comes out really thick and smooth, and looks as though you've melted some silver onto the paper.

Here it is again on some handmade paper that I also got from Blick's.

You can visit Shelley on her blog, and see the beautiful painting she gave me for our facebook art exchange. Thank you, Shelley! She also gave me the gift tags which inspired an afternoon of fun!
